Breadcrumb Home About us Governance and accountability Governance and accountability Good corporate governance is fundamental to any effective and accountable organisation. We are committed to maintaining high standards of corporate governance, transparency and information sharing. As a Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), established by the Mayor of London, we operate within a clear statutory framework. This ensures our work is carried out lawfully, transparently, and in the public interest. How we’re governed The Board is responsible for the overall governance of the organisation. Its responsibilities include: providing leadership and strategic direction setting policies and priorities monitoring performance and standards, including corporate governance representing OPDC and working with partners and stakeholders. Find out more about who’s on our board. How decisions are made Decisions are made through a clear, transparent and well-established governance framework. This includes our Standing Orders, Scheme of Delegations, Financial Regulations, and procurement policies, which set out how decisions are taken and who is responsible for making them. Key strategic and financial decisions are taken by the Board and its committees, supported by published reports that outline the context, options considered and recommended approach. Other decisions are delegated to senior officers in line with the Scheme of Delegation, ensuring effective and timely delivery of OPDC’s work. All formal decisions are recorded and made publicly available through committee reports and our Decisions webpage. Further information on our governance, performance and financial reporting can be found in the Transparency section below. You can also access our governance documents on the Mayor of London website. Committees and Panels Committees and panels support our governance arrangements by providing oversight, assurance, and opportunities for engagement. Sub-Committees The following are formal sub-committees of the Board and support it in decision-making. Planning Committee: determines planning applications within the OPDC area, in line with planning legislation and policy. Audit and Risk Committee: oversees financial reporting, internal and external audit and risk management to ensure strong governance, accountability and control. Development Investment and Sustainability Committee: reviews and advises on major investment decisions, land and property matters. Governance and Nominations Committee: advises the board on governance arrangements, effectiveness and appointments. Panels and Engagement Groups These are not formal Board sub-committees but provide important opportunities for engagement and input: Residents’ Panel: enables local residents to engage directly with Board members and share community priorities. Community Review Group: provides a forum for local people to contribute to planning and urban design discussions. Transparency We are committed to being open and transparent about how we operate. We publish a range of information about our performance, finance and decision-making to ensure accountability and public trust.
