Breadcrumb Home Planning Heritage Conservation areas Conservation areas A conservation area is a heritage asset in its own right. It ensures that the area, as a whole, is defined as having special interest as well as its individual features. Conservation area designations assist OPDC in managing development while preserving and/or enhancing the character or appearance of the area. Specifically, it limits permitted development rights within an area and provides OPDC with additional tools for demolition proposals, trees and location of advertisements.
